10 Reasons Why I’m Excited for Autumn (Fall)

10 Reasons Why I Am Excited for Autumn For me, summer is the worst season of all, apart from the immensely long break from my university studies of course! The air is stifling, the heat zaps you of any energy, and most of my favourite foods are put on suspension until autumn as it is too hot to cook hearty stews and curries. Autumn is my second-favourite season behind winter. It is such a magical season, with the most amazing colours to accompany the warmth behind it. From the colours of the falling leaves to the spooky activities leading up … Continue reading 10 Reasons Why I’m Excited for Autumn (Fall)

A Sandwich I had to Write About

I did not plan on writing anything on here today, but I had to come on quickly as I managed to create the best sandwich I have ever tried. It was completely out of the blue. I cooked souvlaki the other night with homemade pita bread and tzatziki. I had some tzatziki leftovers and was wondering what I could do with it as I did not want to throw away such an amazing sauce. I also had some brown crusty bread that I had made yesterday that I wanted to use some of as well. I thought to myself “I … Continue reading A Sandwich I had to Write About

Burgers – Keep It Simple

I love burgers! Whilst they are not as good as my undying love for pizza, they definitely are a staple in my cooking repertoire. I do, however, find that people all too often overcomplicate a burger when there is no need. Adding other meats to the pattie or onions etc. This is not me. Whilst I do like to go big on certain foods, a burger for me is a quick, cheap, easy meal that has no need for unnecessary extras other than cheese, and maybe some bacon. Here is my ingredient list for either 4 single pattie or 2 … Continue reading Burgers – Keep It Simple

Fish and a Salad

There is nothing that epitomises summer more than a simple fish fillet alongside a salad. I kept my recipe very simple as I was in a situation where I did not know what I wanted to cook. However, I am extremely pleased with how it came out. I had a delicately flavoured fish, nothing too pungent as my dressing for my side salad was quite strong. I decided to use rainbow trout, partly due to its mild flavour, but also because it’s something I had left over. Regardless, here is the recipe and I believe it really worked out well! … Continue reading Fish and a Salad

Carbonara

It genuinely aggravates me when people try to mess with perfection. Why overcomplicate a dish as incredible as a traditional carbonara?! Some people seem to not understand how the majority of Italian foods relish in their simplicity. This makes Italian food, especially for me as a student when I have had lectures all day, quick and easy to make. For those of you who do not know, carbonara has a few simple ingredients: Guanciale (pig cheek) Good eggs Spaghetti Pecorino cheese Black pepper That’s it! How easy is that?! Now you can make substitutions here, and I do when I … Continue reading Carbonara

Bruschetta

There is just something so refreshing about bruschetta. I cannot fathom how anyone does not like at least some combination of toppings on it. The bread is so crispy, yet gives in when you bite it. Then the variety of textures as you chew is what makes bruschetta so incredible – the crispiness of the bread, the smoothness of cheese, for example, and the refreshing, crisp crunchiness of something like fresh tomatoes. Bruschetta has so many combinations that its impossible not to find one that suits you. I am going to tell you my favourite bruschetta toppings that you can … Continue reading Bruschetta

Milkshakes need more love

I’m going to be honest here, I hate the hot weather. Everything about it annoys me. There are only two positives about it: BBQ food and an ice-cold milkshake to cool you down. I cannot think of anything that goes down me better than a good milkshake in the heat, even lager doesn’t touch it. The best thing about milkshakes is that there are so many combinations to choose from, and they’re so easy to make. Literally 3 ingredients: milk, vanilla ice cream and whatever flavour(s) you want. I have some milkshake ideas for you to try, I mean why … Continue reading Milkshakes need more love
